The Church was originally constructed in the village known as Toronto in 1824 which by 1826 had been renamed Credit. By the 1870s the village was known as Springfield-on-the-Credit or just Springfield. In the early 1900s to avoid confusion with other Ontario villages named Springfield the village was renamed Erindale after the estate of Rev. James Magrath, the first Rector of St. Peter's (Heritage Mississauga.)
The Cemetery on the church grounds has been in use continuously since the Church's construction. In 1865 The [url=http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2414641]Erindale Cosmopolitan (Union) Cemetery was created adjacent to the existing cemetery for non Anglican burials and is operated today by the City of Mississauga. The boundary between the two cemeteries is marked by a row of 18" high concrete posts.
Burial records for St. Peter's are available at the Toronto Diocese Archives.
The cemetery located behind the church the entrance to which is off the East side of Mississauga Road just north of Dundas Street.
