NOTE: Plot location is highly recommended when making photo requests; not having it will significantly hinder success. Individual plots in many sections, indicated by cement markers in the ground, are generally subdivided into 12 or more graves, each of those with its own assigned number.

Established in 1929, when it was a dedicated section of what was then known as the "Assiniboine Memorial Park Cemetery". That original cemetery in west Winnipeg was opened around August 1929 on River Lots 90-93 in the Parish of St. Charles. In 1957, when private ownership purchased the cemetery, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Winnipeg could not agree to terms and retained ownership and management, renaming it as we know it today.
As well as the two imposing mausoleums on the property, there are many family plots, and monuments, with sections dedicated to specific ethnic origins. Some sections on the far southern edge include upright markers and above-ground crypts, but most of the property features flat markers and stones.
Dominion Land Survey coordinates (partial; for land near the office): LSD10-36-10-01-E1
While located outside the Perimeter Highway, this cemetery is still within the boundaries of the "Assiniboia Downs" neighbourhood of Greater Winnipeg, though many would consider it to be a part of the area formerly known as Charleswood or the Roman Catholic Parish of St Charles.
The Manitoba Genealogical Society recognizes this as one of the largest cemeteries in the province by the number of memorials it contains (reference #1149). It was transcribed by a member or members in 1997 when it was smaller. The Society makes available to MGS members a searchable online database of the transcribed graves as part of their service named the "MGS Manitoba Name Index" (or MANI).
Of note: This cemetery is adjacent to the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and memorials on this service may not be associated with the correct cemetery; If a plot number is known, the section name will help determine which cemetery holds the burial
