Funeral services for Emilie Marie Sonnenschein, 29, of Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2013, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Burial will be in the Stanton Cemetery. Visitations will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Sonnenschein passed away on September 19, 2012, in Al Ain, following complications after an emergency delivery of her daughter Chalcedony Constance "Kelly" Sonnenschein.

Emilie was born on September 23, 1982, in Long Prairie, MN, the daughter of Dale and Sandra (Alsleben) Triebenbach. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church on October 17, 1982, in Long Prairie. Emilie made her confirmation on April 27, 1997, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Long Prairie.

Emilie graduated from Long Prairie Grey Eagle High School in May of 2001. She continued her education earning her degree in elementary education from Cornell College in Mt Vernon, IA.

On May 3, 2008, Emilie married Douglas Sonnenschein at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon. The couple made their home in Stanton, NE, prior to moving to Memphis, TN. There, Emilie worked as the librarian at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.

In August of 2010, Emilie was extended an offer to teach English in schools in the United Arab Emirates. She and Doug moved to the United Arab Emirates and Emilie began her teaching career.

Emilie delivered her daughter Kelly on August 24, 2012, in Al Ain. However, she suffered from further complications which lead to her death on September 19.

Emilie will be remembered for her faith in the Lord, a loving wife, a passionate teacher, talented flute play and her infectious smile.

Emilie is dearly missed by her husband, Doug; daughter Kelly; her parents; her brothers and their spouses, Brian and Nicki Triebenbach, of Groton, CT, and Jeffrey Triebenbach of Long Prairie, MN; her sister Stephanie and her husband, Jesse Erickson, of White Bear Lake, MN; her niece, Alexis, and nephew, Nathan, both of Groton, CT; her grandmother Ruby (Asmus) Alsleben; her parents-in-law, Wally and Joan Sonnenschein, of Norfolk; as well as many extended family members and friends around the world.

Emilie is preceded in death by her infant twin brothers and her grandparents, Milo Alsleben, and Edwin and Edna (Steinert) Triebenbach.
