Roy Albert Centner, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2013, in Glendale, AZ. He was born April 17, 1925, in Chicago, IL to John L. and Birdie Centner. Roy served in the US Army in WW II, earning a Purple Heart for wounds received on Anzio Beach. His life's work was as a watchmaker and jeweler, owning stores in Sedona, Flagstaff, and Phoenix. An avid outdoorsman, Roy also provided community service as a volunteer ambulance driver, search and rescue worker, and reserve policeman. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sun City West. Roy is survived by Pat, his wife of 46 years; sons Tom (Linda); Jim; Lee (Julie); and Robert (Viola); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his oldest son Roy (Dona), baby son Patrick, and brothers Jim and Gerry. Roy will be remembered for his great delight in teasing others and making them laugh. Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 25, at Sunland Memorial Park &Mortuary, 15826 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ.
