A Tribute To Those Who Served Their Country At Peleliu,
REDIFER, John C.. Company K, 3rd Bn, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. WIA on 28 Sept 1944.
John was wounded and received the Purple Heart.
The book title is "With the Old Breed" at Peleliu and Okinawa, by E.B. Sledge, many references to John in the book about his bravery and also a picture of him with two of his fighting buddies.
The war does take a toll on those that survive, look at the before and after pictures of John. What a handsome young man .

Mr. Redifer died July 11, 1995 at age 71.
He was born Dec 25, 1923, in Redmond and lived in Portland since 1933.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he worked for Freightliner and retired in 1987.
he married Jennie L. on Nov. 27, 1970.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Joanne Bockelman and Jonni Eggiman, both of Portland; son, Kenneth of Gresham; stepdaughter, Carol Nelson of Gresham, stepson; Tim Fagerburg, of Eagle Creek, sisters, June King of Portland, and Mary Knight of Roseburg; brother Stanley of Portland and eleven grandchildren.
Disposition by Cremation.
Remembrances; Favorite Charity.

While visiting with John's sister June Redifer King I exclaimed how brave John was with many of the chances he took during the war. June with her sense of humor said no not really , just dumb!! She loved her brother a lot, she was so full of laughs with stories about their childhood.
