Arthur Frank Carpentier, born March 6, 1918, in Moline, headed home to be with his Father and Savior Sunday, April 22, 2007. He passed away at his home in Rio Verde, Ariz., surrounded by his family. A celebration of Art's life will take place at Rio Verde Community Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2007. Interment will be at the National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. After graduating from United Township High School in East Moline, where he met his future wife, Jeanette Bennett, he attended Culver-Stockton College, Augustana College, the University of Iowa, the United States Navel Academy, and Lehigh University, graduating with degrees in accounting and engineering. He married Jeanette on Jan. 7, 1943, at Peace Lutheran Church near her Barstow home. Art proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II as Engineering Officer aboard the Destroyer Escort USS Tabberer (www.cybersignsusa.com/de418/). He was called back into the Navy during the Korean War. After Korea he stayed active in the Navy Reserve, retiring with the rank of commander. Art was a CPA, and the founding partner of Carpentier, Mitchell and Goddard & Company, a Certified Public Accounting firm in Moline. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, Rio Verde Community Church, Rio Verde Country Club and Short Hills Country Club. Art is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanette; three sons (and spouses), Mark, Scottsdale, Ariz., Jeff (Linda), Cumming, Ga., John (Beth), Marietta, Ga.; and three incredible granddaughters of whom he was very proud, Kara, Paige and Caitlin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruth Peterson Carpentier; a sister, Mary Jane Hill; his in-laws, Rex and Pearl Bennett; uncles, Earl and Clarence Peterson; and his "second parents," Uncle Martin and Aunt Twila Peterson. "Art," "Dad," "Grandpa," and "Carp" was a sensitive man, who loved family, friends and all those who enjoyed his stories. His passing will leave a large void in all of our lives. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Arrowhead Ranch.
