Isabelle Thelma (Gute) Annear, was born October 20, 1914 to William and Rushie (Visner) Gute on a farm west of Dedham, Iowa. She departed this life on May 1, 2014 at the age of 99 years, 6 months and 11 days at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa.
Isabelle attended school in Carrollton, Iowa. She was the second oldest of seven children. She always enjoyed working outside and even had her own team of horses that she used to pick corn by hand for her father.
On November 18, 1932 in Elk Point, South Dakota, Isabelle Gute was united in marriage to Eldon Alfred Annear. Three children were born to this union.
Isabelle and Eldon lived in Carrollton, Bayard and Coon Rapids where Eldon did numerous jobs. In 1945, they moved to a farm near Lohrville and farmed in the area until they retired to a home they built in Adaza in 1974.
After Eldon's death in 1981, Isabelle continued living in Adaza until 1983 when she met a special friend from Jamaica, Iowa. She moved to Jamaica and was a housekeeper for him until his death in 1995 when she then moved back to Adaza.
Isabelle was a member of the Lohrville United Methodist Church and made noodles for many years for the chicken noodle dinners and church bazaars. Later she continued to help the church and took on making noodles as a project.
Isabelle enjoyed working outside in the flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed making quilts and quilting them. She made many of them for the family and also sold some of them to friends. She loved fishing in Canada and everywhere else that she could go.
Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Betty (Tom) (Mulvihill) Whitmer of Scroggins, Texas and Evelyn DeWald of Adaza, five grandchildren; Pam DeWald, Paula Redmon, Jane (Alan) Brommel, Cathy (John) Henderson and Joe (Sherri) Mulvihill, six great-grandchildren; Heather (Mark) Addy, Adam (Lacey) Brommel, Andy (Taylor) Brommel, John (Lisa) Henderson, Karen Henderson and Elizabeth Mulvihill, seven great-great-grandchildren; Kalei Bock, Tegan Bock, Jaelyn Addy, Olivia Brommel, Rogan Addy, Lochlan Brommel and Ada Brommel and three sisters; Clara Lyons, Ruth Gravitt, both of Coon Rapids and Willma McCombs of Ogden.
Those who proceeded her in death were her parents, husband, a son, Alvin, two brothers, Frank Gute and Clarence Gute, a sister, Edith Kopaska, two son-in-laws, Tom Mulvihill and Ruben DeWald, two sister-in-laws, Betty Gute and Evelyn Gute and three brother-in-laws, Louis Kopaska, James Gravitt and Harry Lyons Jr., her special friend, James McDermott and Reginald R. Alex who Isabelle raised and he always considered her as Mom.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. from the Lohrville United Methodist Church with Pastor Sue Thomas officiating. Burial was made in the Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Musical selections, "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sung by Roger Blanchfield and accompanied by organist, Nila Spencer.
Casket bearers were Alan Brommel, John Henderson, Mark Addy, Adam Brommel, Andy Brommel and J.T. Henderson.
