When Miriam Mozes was born on 31 January 1934, in Transylvania, Romania, her father, Alexander Mozes, was 35 and her mother, Zseni "Jaffa" Hersh, was 29. After liberation from Auschwitz on 27 January 1945, she lived in Cluj, Romania, with her Aunt Irena and sister Eva. They remained in Romania until 1950 before immigrating to Israel, arriving in the Port of Haifa on 25 June 1950. She serve in the Israeli Army from 1952 to at least 1960, reaching the rank of Lieutenant. She married Yekutiel Zeiger in 1958, in Israel. They were the parents of 3 daughters. In 1987 she received a kidney transplant from her twin, Eva. She was a survivor of Auschwitz and Josef Mengele's twin experiments.
