John D. Geissler, 68, of 118 Exeter St., died this morning in the Reading Hospital. He was a native of Berks County, a son of the late Jacob and Katie (Oswald) Geissler.
Prior to retiring in 1952 he had been employed by the Carpenter Steel Co. for more than 17 years. He was a member of Olivet United Church of Christ and of the Meadowbrook Country Club.
Surviving are his widow, Ida V. (Angstadt) Geissler; seven children: Beatrice, wife of Walter Keller, Laureldale; Jean, wife of Paul Billman; Mary Jane, wife of Raymond Williams; Saylor W. and Russell H. Geissler, all of Reading; Fritz F. Geissler, Wyomissing Hills, and Harry L. Geissler, Wilmington; 19 grandchildren and two brothers: Jacob Geissler, Womelsdorf, and Elmer Geissler, Hazelton.

He was an Army veteran of World War I, serving as a wagoner with the 166th Infantry, 42 Division.
His name was Jonathan, but he shortened it to John.
