Charles was born 8 Nov in Hocking Co, Ohio. The 1900 census has his birth year 1855, his death cert as given by his son Leo says his birth year is 1856. I based on other findings, I think it was 1856 and that he was a twin. What happened to the other twin is unknown at this writing but he does not appear on the 1870 census

Charles married his wife Jane on 8 Sep 1878 in Hocking Co, Ohio. They had at least ten children. In his early years, Charles worked as a farmer, in his middle years he worked in the coal mine. His last known employment was in 1920 where he was working as a laborer for he gas company in Columbus.

Beginning on the 1920 census Charles and Jennie did not live together, each moved around the rest of their life living with various family members. In 1920 Charles was living in the household of his daughter Ruby, in 1930 he is with his niece Dora Wilson, and in 1940 he is with his daughter Goldie. He died in Millersport in 1946 probably at his son Lee's residence with whom he is buried. On his death cert Leo is the informant and lives in the same area that Charles' death occurred. He is buried at Sunset Cemetery with his son Lee Herbert, Lee's wife Ester Whipple, and Myrtle M Jenkins.

*note: Charles son Leo appears on birth and census records as Leo S. however, this headstone says Lee H. The birth date matches on docs and the census show he is not a twin.
