Police Officer James Mulcahy, star number 536, was assigned to the 3rd Precinct.
On August 23, 1920, Officer Mulcahy and his partner, Officer William Hennessy, were assigned to gather intelligence on a tavern located in the 2700 block of South State Street. While the officers were inside, an argument broke out between Hirsche Miller and Officer Mulcahy. Miller drew a gun from his jacket and fatally wounded both officers.
Hirsche Miller was acquitted on August 30, 1920.
Officer Mulcahy was laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
