Carl Frederick Gaudian, the son of Carl Gaudian and Augusta nee Karo, was born on October 7, 1895 in Germany. He was baptized there on November 3, 1895. He came to the United States at the age of two years. He received his formal education in rural schools south of Paullina, and later attended St. John's at Germantown, where he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 20, 1910.
In 1917 and 1918 he served in the Armed Forces with the 88th Division in France and Germany.
On December 14, 1925 he was united in marriage to Olga Tesch. To this union four children were born. He spent over fifty years working the life's work with wood, he had built, remodeled, or repaired many homes in this area.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as school board member for over 20 years and also served as a trustee, elder and on other committees.
In 1975 Car] and Olga had the pleasure of celebrating their golden anniversary.
On January 16th he suddenly became ill, and was taken to the hospital in Primghar, where he suddenly passed away the following morning at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 10 days.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Olga; his two sons, Clarence of Paullina and Duane of Aurelia; two daughters, Violet, Mrs. Duane Reimers of Paullina, and Carol, Mrs. Ivan Thompson, of Sheldon. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his two sisters, Elizabeth, Mrs. Carl Pauling, of Harris, Iowa, and Esther, Mrs. Arthur Fegebank of Paullina.
