John G. Damrath, 88, was a member of the National Guard from 1927 to 1930 having served in the 104th Field Artilary. He joined the NYS Troopers in 1930 at Troop D and later at Troop K. He was promoted to Corporal in 1957, and then to Sergeant in 1962, where he served in the communication headquaters. He earned Tech Sergeant in 1964 where he was a supervisor until his retirement in 1969. Mr. Damrath was a well recognized trick horse rider for the State Police. He loved carpentry, gardening, fishing and hunting. In June of 1995, he received a Silver Award in recognition of a quater of a century of outstanding, loyal and devoted service to the People of New York State.
He was the husband of Bernadeen Damrath for 61 years. He is survived by a son; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
