Edward Lee Fairchild, 45, born July 27, 1970 in Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on January 31, 2016. Ed’s brief but fulfilled life was tragically ended in an automobile accident this past Sunday but before that moment, he lived his life with what friends summarized as a gentle heart.

Growing up in Lake Charles Ed quickly adopted a love for the outdoors as he enjoyed duck hunting, fishing and playing golf. In 1981, the family moved to Beeville, Texas giving him a chance to continue his outdoor adventures with dove, deer and quail hunting. Ed also enjoyed competitive skeet shooting. As a member of FFA he raised lambs and at home he cared for cows, horses, dogs and cats.

Edward graduated High School in 1989 from A.C. Jones in Beeville, Texas and graduated from Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas in 1995. Taking time to travel abroad after his studies Ed’s life continued to evolve as he collected new friends and experiences along the way. Ed found an inner peace on his journey and upon his return he was different yet very much the same. He still loved to hunt. He still got up in the early morning to sneak off to a freezing deer blind. Now the difference was in his weapon of choice….a giant 30 mm….camera that is.

At an early age of 8, Ed built and re-built his first computer and never looked back. Over the years he shared his knowledge with everyone from ages 9-99. Ed gave of his time freely to folks near and far but also right here at home. For the past several years Ed has called Normangee, TX home where he continued to help friends and served his community as a city councilman.

If you knew Ed, you know this is true…he has either fixed your computer, showed you a picture or talked about music. His loving legacy will be his passion for music especially a band called Widespread Panic and his second home, the Kerrville Folk Festival.

He is survived by his loving wife Maricela Fairchild, his parents Mr. & Mrs. Bob Fairchild and Mr. & Mrs. Tom Kilgore, sister Jennifer Fairchild Borecky, brother Robert Fairchild, Jr.,step-son, Agustin Martinez and countless Aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The service to celebrate Edward’s life will be held Friday February 5, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, Texas followed by interment in Harper, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Mike Fairchild, Royce Shaw, Rick Martin, Sil Cervantez, Louie Sanchez and Tim Hemphill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation in his name.
