Services for LaVonne "Bonnie" Watters, 63, East Okoboji, were held Thursday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley with the Rev. Max Goldman officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. The Warner Funeral Home in Spencer was in charge of arrangements.

She died May 22 in Rochester, Minnesota.

LaVonne "Bonnie" Doris Watters, the daughter of Julius and Elvira Eichhorn Meyer, was born September 30, 1924 in Jackson, Minnesota. She received her early education in country schools around Everly and later graduated from Everly High School. Following her graduation, she attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for two years. After completion at Buena Vista, she taught school in Royal for five years and in Hartley for several years.

She married Lowell Watters December 16, 1951 in Hartley. Following their marriage they moved to a farm east f Hartley and Mrs. Watters ran a flower shop from her home and in downtown Hartley for nearly ten years. While living in Hartley, she was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ and the Friday Club. They moved to the Lakes area in 1975.

Mrs. Watters is survived by her husband; two sons and their wives, Terry and Jean of Estherville, and Mitch and Valerie of Ocheyedan; three grandchildren, one brother, Verland "Bud" Meyer of Everly; two sisters, Lola Meyer of Milford and Darlene (and Forrest) Klett of Everly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Lynn.
