Our beautiful Nadya Simone Unger tragically lost her physical life due to a senseless and incomprehensible act on Thursday, April 21st, 2016. Nadya had just celebrated her 23rd birthday, just 2 days before, on April 19th.

Words cannot describe the grief and devastation we are experiencing. Nadya was a shining star, a wonderful, happy, fun person, who loved life. She loved to travel and had recently visited London, England with her sister Nina.

Nadya was born in Tucson Arizona on April 19th, 1993. She was raised in the country surrounded by horses and lots of animals. She learned very young to ride and adored her Paint horse, Comanche. Nadya moved to Camarillo in 2002 and attended Camarillo Heights, Los Altos Middle School and Adolfo Camarillo High School.

Nadya was very ambitious and at the age of 21, she opened Bark Bath and Beyond, a Pet grooming salon in Mission Oaks Plaza in Camarillo. She loved her shop and her customers and their dogs and cats, or fur babies, as she called them.

Nadya is survived by her forever broken hearted mother, Lili Dellinger (Foster) of Camarillo, fathers Walter Unger of Scottsdale and Jesse Dellinger of Ventura, grandfather David (Steve) Foster of Wilcox, AZ, loving little sister Nina Dellinger, who Nadya lovingly referred to as “Veeshner”, sisters Georgie Unger of Sydney, Australia, and Evelyn Goetz of Weiz, Austria. Nadya will be joining her Grandmother Pauline Foster, aunt Vivian Foster and uncle James Foster, who will be lovingly waiting to guide and protect her until we can be together again.

Until I see you again, my beautiful, beautiful daughter, I will forever love you and cherish every memory I have of you, please visit me in my dreams, and never forget the love we all have for you, forever, forever, Nadya, my sweet pea, my sweet baby girl, Sweet Dreams my angel.

Officials with the Ventura office of the California Highway Patrol say drugs were likely a factor in a fatal motorcycle collision with a Metrolink train on Thursday afternoon.

According to officials, Nadya Unger, 23, died and Garrett Vongunten, 26, is critically injured following the collision, which occurred at about 6 p.m., Thurs. April 21 in an unincorporated portion of the county.
According to police, Vongunten was riding his motorcycle south on Las Posas Road towards Fifth Street with Unger on the back.

The motorcyclist, a Camarillo resident, failed to come to a stop at the train crossing and collided with the side of a Metrolink train travelling westbound towards Oxnard, according to CHP reports.

Vongunten and the Unger, also a Camarillo resident, were thrown from his 2015 Harley Davidson to the ground. Unger, officials said, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Vongunten sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Ventura County Medical Center on Loma Vista Road in Ventura. He was arrested on felony charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, though he remains at the hospital where he is receiving treatment.

Scott Johnson, a spokesperson for Metrolink, said about 20 people were on the commuter train at the time of the crash. He said the train was stopped in Oxnard following the collision and waited for investigators.

The train behind it stopped at the Metrolink Station in Camarillo, as the crossing in Oxnard was closed due to the investigation.

A train travelling through the area later that day had an approximately 45-minute delay.

Officer Rolando Tejeda of the CHP said officers are working to better understand what happened.

“It’s still under investigation,” he said of the collision. “We are in the process of interviewing any witnesses that may come forward.”
