James (Jim) Preston Sappington, a long-time resident of Neosho and Joplin, died Monday, June 13, 2016 at Freeman Health System.



Jim was born on December 6, 1936 in Powell, Missouri. He graduated from Rocky Comfort High School in 1955. Jim was a member of Teamster Local Union No. 823 and for the last 30 years of his career he drove for Yellow Freight. He was a life time member of the church of Christ.



Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Susie and Ellis Frazier and Mary Alice and George Lincoln Sappington, and his parents, Clyta and Claud Sappington.



He is survived by a sister, Carolyn Sue Secker; two nephews, Eric Secker (Louise) and Mark Secker (Lottie Jo); one niece, Elizabeth Goldasich (Matthew) and eight great-nieces and nephews.
