Mr. Kurt Alfred Hartig, age 83, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 20, 2003. Born at Paterson, New Jersey, on April 25, 1920, he was the son of the late Kurt Lewis and Frieda (Silberberger) Hartig. Mr. Hartig was a retired chemist for G.A.F., a chemical and building products company. He and his wife Adele had been residents of Fairfield Bay for ten years. In 1941 Kurt volunteered to serve in the United States Army. After serving in the Army, he married the girl next door on November 22, 1947. Mr. Hartig was an active volunteer at the Fairfield Bay Recycle Center, a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, a member of the Audubon Society, and the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher. Survivors include: his wife, Adele (Williams) Hartig of Fairfield Bay, AR, two sons, Kurt Hartig of Bayville, New Jersey, and Kevin Hartig of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and five grandchildren, Kiri, Sean, Sarah, Daniel, and Kurt. Mr. Hartig is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
