Wilbur Bruce of Unionville, Indiana died August 23, 2016. Wilbur and his sister Janet were both born at the home of their grandparents, Lafe & Eppie Clark, on the Jess Headley Farm 1/2 mile west of Tunnel Road on Hwy. 45 near Unionville.
Wilbur is the son of Homer "Bud" M. Bruce and Loree (Clark) Bruce.
Wilbur worked in the mechanical department 37 years for Monon, L&N and CSX Railroads in Bloomington, Indianapolis and Lafayette, Indiana. He retired at age 56. He Spent his retirement years raising spotted donkeys, Haflinger horses and bush-hogging for many people. Wib was a 50-year plus member of F&AM #245 Ellettsville since February 1957.
Wilbur married Marilyn Johnson in June 1954. They had 5 children before divorcing in 1978. He remarried in June 1988 to Nancy May and she survives.
He is survived by his five children, Barry (Jerrie) Bruce of Linden, Indiana, Karey (Alan) Claghorn of Milo, Iowa, Willis (Stephanie) Bruce of Unionville, Brandan (Pamela) Bruce of Indianola, Iowa, and Callie (Pip) Chamberlain of Bloomington. Wib was also the proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren: Leif Bruce, Jordan (Lucy) Bruce, Josh Duke, Erin and Emily Claghorn, Zach and Alex Bruce, Nicole and Jalen Hunter, Tyler and Danielle Chamberlain.
He is survived by one sister Janet "Kitty" Carron of Bloomington and her three daughters Cathy Cooper, Rita Jo (Larry) Gonzalez and Mandy (Ron) Price.
Wib is also survived by three step daughters Dotty (Dave) Sharp, Mary (Gary) Mosier and Beth Tuck and five step grandchildren, Justin and Asher Thompson, Anna and Sarah (John) Mosier and Emily Tuck.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, Homer & Loree Bruce, uncle Loyd Clark, grandson Josh Duke, and brother-in-law Robert "Bob" Carron.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, 700 W Gourley Pike, with the funeral Service to be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 27th. Burial will be in New Bellsville Cemetery located east of Stone Head and Pike Peak, Indiana in Brown County. His five children will officiate. In order to honor Wib's wishes the family asks that Memorial Contributions be made to New Bellsville Cemetery, 7909 Bellsville Pike, Nashville, IN 47448 instead of sending flowers.
