He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy.
Norb was the founder & bandleader of 'The Mello-Tones', of which he was also their lead vocalist & saxophone player.
He was a graduate of the Chicago Catholic Archdiocese Deaconate Program's first class in 1972. He actively served as a Catholic Deacon at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church for 44 years. He was also an active member of the Jaycee's, and was awarded their highest honor of JCI Senatorship. Also he had been awarded the SS. Cyril & Methodius Polish Club Citizen of the Year award.
Norb was also active in numerous activities, and organizations in the town of Lemont. He was a co-founder of the Lemont Park District and served as President of the Lemont Park District Board for over 35 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jerri Lesnieski; his children James Lesnieski and Suzette (Mark) Sniegowski; grandchildren Anne (Adam) Becker, Christina (Evan) Strehlau, Michael (Laurie) Lesnieski, Josh (Fiancee Alexandra) Sniegowski, and Aubrey (Kendrick) Sands; also surviving are his great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Bryce, and Mia.
Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, Casimer (Sophie) Lesnieski, and a son Thomas Lesnieski.
Visitation: Tuesday, September 27, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Lemont. Lying in state Wednesday Sept. 28, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass at 10:30 a.m. at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Lemont.
