Teresa Jane Gainer , 66, of Myersville, MD passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. She was the beloved wife of Richard "Dick" Gainer for over 35 years.

Born June 22, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Elizabeth (Welker) Hofmann. She grew up in Pittburgh, PA and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1969. She started her working career at Sears Robuck & Co. in Pittsburgh and transferred to the Bethesda, MD branch in the early 1970's. She continued her career at Bechtel Corporation starting in data entry and advanced into the role of supervising the cabling of nuclear power plants for the Rockville office. This position led her to inspecting nuclear power plants from Calvert Cliffs in Lusby, MD to Grand Gulf in Port Gibson, MS. While living in Gaithersburg, MD, she met Dick Gainer, whom she married on December 12, 1981. After starting their family in Myersville, MD, she became a homemaker, and was very active in her children's lives and activities. Terry taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren. She became the volunteer president of the Middletown Valley Athletic Association, as well as president of the Frederick County Youth Soccer League. A devoted mother, she spent countless hours with her children attending their practices and games. From 1998-2002, she ran the lunch room at St. John's Prospect Hall in Frederick, MD, primarily to keep her son Rich in check. After leaving St. John's, she continued on to CVS Pharmacy, becoming Lead Pharmacy Technician and trainer at the Rosemont Ave. location. She was extremely dedicated and well loved by her co-workers and customers. Through her love and unwavering support, she encouraged two of her technicians to go on to become pharmacists. She retired in 2014 and spent the last few years traveling to see family and friends. Terry was looking forward to spending time with Dick at their new seasonal home in The Villages, FL, and with her precious grandson, Patrick.

In addition to her husband, Dick, she is survived by her son Richard Gainer, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Charleston, WV; her daughter Angela Korb, husband Rob, and grandson Patrick of Salisbury, MD; and many family members from Carlisle, PA. She was predeceased by her brother Eugene Hofmann, Jr. in 2012. Terry was a very outgoing, loyal, loving, and caring person, who had a contagious smile and laugh. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, 11301 Meeting House Rd., Myersville where services will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Tim Ritchey Martin and Donna Ritchey Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home in Boonsboro, MD.
