Olga Mary Fabianich
The Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church for Olga Mary Fabianich, who died Tuesday of a heart attack in her Portland home. She was 94.
The rosary will be said for her at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at Hennessey, Goetsch & McGee Mortuary. Vault entombment will be in Riverview Abbey Mausoleum.
Mrs. Fabianich was born Olga Mary Barta on May 22, 1898, in Sutivan, Brac, Croatia. She came to Portland as a teen-ager.
She lived briefly in Fairbanks, Alaska, before returning to Portland.
Mrs. Fabianich and her husband, Mark, owned and operated grocery stores in Northwest Portland and at the site of the present Memorial Coliseum.
Mrs. Fabianich was a longtime member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and of the Croatian Fraternal Union of Portland.
Her son, Mike Stepovich, was the last territorial governor of Alaska.
In addition to her son, who lives in Fairbanks, survivors include her sister, Anna Yutronich of Van Nuys, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to St. Ignatius Church.
