Frank is a son of George Casper Behring and Sarah Beckley. Frank's grandfather, Casper Heinrich Behring, had immigrated from Prussia and settled in Pennsylvania.
Frank married Margaret Ellen Hodge in 1895 in Pennsylvania. After the birth of their first child, Charles Kendrick, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where their other two children, Sarah Beckley and Frank Dewitt, Jr., were born. By 1930 they had moved to Logan.
Frank made his living as a foundryman. He died at age 88 of bronchial pneumonia and septicemia.
