Elizabeth Mary Avila, age 79, of Olathe, Colorado died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Valley Manor Care Center. Elizabeth was born July 13, 1933 to Joe A. and Estella O. (Lovato) Vigil. She spent her childhood in Center and Hotchkiss, Colorado before moving to Montrose where she made her home until her time of death. Elizabeth was employed at Valley Manor Care Center for 34 years. She was raised in the Catholic faith, and was a loving wife, mother grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and flowers and enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by them all.
Surviving family members include her husband, John D. Avila of Olathe; children Larry K. (Roberta) Avila of Olathe, Marie (John) Willboughy of Villa Rica, Georgia; sisters Ruth Archuleta, Christine Cale, Merlee Montoya, Mary Ann Mondragon, Delores (Sammy) Gallegos and Angela Vigil; brothers Raymond (Laurie) Vigil, Joe (Carmen) Vigil, Johnny (JoAnne) Vigil, Walter Vigil and Tommy Vigil; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Elizabeth was preceded in death by three sons, Johnny Lee Avila, Kenny Avila, and Donny Avila, her daughter Connie Mae Avila, sister Cecilia Rivera and her parents.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 A.M, at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. Rite of Committal will follow the Mass at Olathe Cemetery in Olathe, Co. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
