An old settler of Shelby Co., passed away at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Monday afternoon. He had been suffering for some time with gangrene in one of his feet. His death came quite suddenly. His brothers, Ed and Wm, who had been visiting him had barley left Omaha when his other brother Joe received a message that he was dead.

Nathaniel M. Clark was born in Indiana, October 27, 1853 and died at the M. E. Hospital in Omaha, January 27, 1919. In the spring of 1882 he moved from Tama Co. to Shelby Co., where he made his home until his death. He never married. He leaves three brothers, Ed, Wm and Joe and one sister, Mrs. Ed Quinn and a half-brother brother, George, of Irwin and a half-brother and a half-sister in eastern Iowa, are left to mourn his death.

For many years he has been a familiar figure about Botan where he was known and respected by everyone. The remains were brought to Irwin Tuesday evening and taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Ed Quinn. Funeral services in charge of Rev. Farrell were held on the lawn at 2 o'clock Wednesday. Interment was made at the Irwin Cemetery.
