Actress. Remembered for playing 'Kay Lawrence' in the classic horror picture "Creature from the Black Lagoon" (1954). Born Betty May Adams, she relocated to California, where she worked as a secretary, prior to taking acting lessons and being discovered. She made her motion picture debut with a minor role in the film "Red, Hot and Blue" (1949) and for the early part of her career she was billed as 'Betty May Adams,' prior to changing her name to Julie Adams, initially for the picture "Bright Victory" (1951). She enjoyed an extensive career on television, as she experienced recurring appearances on such programs as "77 Sunset Strip," "Perry Mason" and "Marcus Welby, M.D." She had featured roles on such shows as "The Jimmy Stewart Show" (1971 to 1972) and "Code Red" (1981 to 1982) and "Murder, She Wrote" (1987 to 1993). She will perhaps be remembered by soap opera audiences for playing 'Paula Denning' in the series "Capitol" (1984 to 1986). She was formerly married to TV writer and director Leonard Stern and actor Ray Danton.
