In a career that began with an appearance in a silent film as an infant in 1918, she will best be remembered for starring and singing alongside Gene Autry in 'Down Mexico Way' (1941), 'Sierra Sue' (1941), 'Home in Wyomin'' (1942), 'Heart of the Rio Grande' (1942) and 'Cowboy Serenade' (1942). Born in Hollywood to actors Eva and Bob McKenzie, she was cradled in the arms of Gloria Swanson in the silent film 'Station Content' when she was 10 months old, and then appeared with Oliver Hardy in the short 'Distilled Love' (1920). She attended school at MGM's Little Red Schoolhouse, where her classmates included Ann Rutherford, Betty Grable and Anne Jeffreys, and had small roles in several pictures during the '30s, including 'Gunga Din' (1939). Among other films she would appear in were 'Mad Youth' (1940), 'The Singing Sheriff' (1944), 'Night and Day' (1946), 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' (1961), 'The Party' (1968) and 'S.O.B.' (1980). She would also have roles in several television shows and series throughout her career. McKenzie, who was married twice and had two children with her second husband, passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes.
