Luzetta M. Frye, 84 of Bloomington passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Garden Villa Center in Bloomington.
She was born on January 19, 1934 in Monroe County, Indiana the daughter of Avy C. and Mary Iona (Conner) Sherlock. Luzetta attended Smithville High School. She married Marvin E. Frye on October 5,1951 in Bloomington they were married 49 years.
Luzetta worked for Indiana University in the art museum as a Doesiea for over 25 years before retiring.
She was a member of City Church in Bloomington and attended Turning Point Apostolic Church in Ellettsville, she volunteered in the Monroe County School Corporation in the Reading Readiness Program. She enjoyed reading, garage sales, and shopping at Kohl’s, She loved her family and loved being a grandmother she lived for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Luzetta is survived by her children; Wanda Carol McGowen of Bloomington, Martha Jo McCammon of Bloomington, Marvin E. Frye of Martinsville, six grandchildren; Daniel (Windy) McGowen, Scott (Jodi) McGowen, Brandy (John) Lazzell, Ashley McCammon, Brittany (Jerry) Branam, Megan Frye, eight great grandchildren; Matthew McGowen, Miles McGowen, Maggie McGowen, Grayson McGowen, Ryan East, Aidyn East, Grant Branam, Max Branam, three sisters; Ruth Heltonburg, Phyllis Hunter and Louise Jones all of Bedford, one brother David Sherlock of Bloomington and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, one sister Lois Hickman, one brother Edward Sherlock, and a sister-in-law Freeda Terrell preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Allen Funeral Home & Crematory 4155 S. Old St Rd 37, Bloomington. With Rev. David Norris officiating. Burial Will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to service time Monday, April 2, 2018 at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to the Riley Children’s Hospital or the Bloomington Salvation Army Food Pantry.
