CROSS PLAINS: Gertrude C. Story, age 91, of Cross Plains died on Thursday, July 14, 1994 at her daughter's home. The former Gertrude Laufenberg was born on September 12, 1902 in Avoca, Wisconsin. She lived many years in Brooklyn, Wisconsin and Hinsdale, Illinois and Cross Plains, Wisconsin for the past three years. She was a member of the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was one of twelve children and is the last member of her family. Survivors include two daughters, Irene (Dale) Denney of Vesper, Wisconsin and Alice Richards of Cross Plains; a son, Raymond (Betty) Story of Hinsdale, Illinois: 16 grandchildren; 32 greatgrandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband. Minor Story in 1962; a daughter, Mabel Miles in 1991; and her parents, John and Katherine (Steinhart) Laufenberg. Funeral services will be held at the ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH in Cross Plains at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 1994. Father Stephen Smith will officiate. Burial will be held at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois at 2:00 p.m. Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 North Sherman Avenue on Monday, July 18, 1994 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., where a scripture service will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
