Professional Football Player. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Garvey played the positions of center, guard, tackle, and end for several professional football teams. A graduate of Notre Dame College, Art Garvey played for the National Football League's Chicago Bears from 1922 to 1923, Brooklyn Lyons in 1926, Hartford Blues in 1926, New York Giants from 1927 to 1928, Providence Steam Rollers in 1926, Brooklyn Dodgers in 1930, and the Staten Island Stapletons in 1931. He also played for the American Football League's New York Yankees in 1926, and the Brooklyn Horsemen in 1926. He retired from football in 1931.
