Born on June 19, 1940 in Warren County, he was the son of the late Henry Jordan Abbott and Susie Dickerson Abbott.
Tommy was retired from Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, and was a member of the Adult Sunday School. Tommy was active in the Boy Scouts of American of which he served as a Leader, Scout Master, and received the Silver Beaver Award for Leadership.
Due to coronavirus regulations, we are required to limit attendance at funeral services to immediate family members totaling 50 or less. Private graveside services will be held Friday at 2 pm at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. Henry Abbott.
He is survived by his wife, Frances McDaniel Abbott of the home; one daughter, Teresa A. Raynor (Barry) of Oxford; one son, M. T. Abbott, Jr. (Marsha) of Oxford; two sisters, Shirley A. Peoples of Wake Forest and Mary A. Temple of Henderson; one brother, Macon Abbott of Henderson; five grandchildren, Heather R. Richardson, Ashley A. Hedgepeth, Henry Raynor, Thomas Abbott, and Jordon Abbott; and six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association 10 Glenlake Pkwy NE South Tower Suite 400 Atlanta, GA 30328.
Anyone that wishes to view Tommy may do so on Thursday from 1 until 5 pm and Friday from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home. Viewing of the service on Friday is available below this obituary.
