Walter Edmund Reuther was the first child born to Paul and Martha (Hoger) Reuther on March 14, 1915 on the home farm in Rosebud, Oliver County, North Dakota. He had 8 brothers and sisters and one half brother. He attended Nelson school in the Churchtown school district #4 from the first through the eighth grade.

He worked on the family farm and did many jobs for neighbors and relatives. He mined coal, ran a thresher, worked on the railroad, worked in a blacksmith shop and welding shop and took his father's place on the WPA graveling roads.

On March 20, 1941 he married Grace Lucella Berg, who was born on October 29, 1921 to Anton and Barbara (Eaton) Berg. They were married in Vancouver, Washington and came back to North Dakota to farm northeast of New Salem, building their farm from the ground up. Walter was loved by everyone and worked hard all his life. Walter and Grace had 8 children: Walter Paul born and died in 1942, Rodney Wayne born in 1943 and died in 1993, Darlene Ellen born and died in 1944, Jodine Kaye born in 1945, Cheryl Doris born in 1948, Nancy Elise born in 1952, Patti Lenore born in 1957 and Michell Marie born in 1963.

Walter and Grace farmed for 26 years and then moved to Washington State in 1968. Walter worked for Lockheed and Boeing before his retirement.

Dad is sorely missed by his children and grandchildren.
