Obituary for Ernest John Yarusi
Ernest John Yarusi, 80, of Somerset, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Center for Hope Hospice. Ernest was born and raised in Westfield, New Jersey on December 19, 1932 to Anthony and Filomena (Lombardi) Yarusi. Ernest was one of twelve siblings including Rose, Danny, Freddie, John, Albert, Ellen, Raymond, Alice, Elizabeth, Eddie, and Leon.
Ernest is survived by his wife Claire of 62 years, his two daughters Roseann Yarusi and Cindy Timoni, his son Ernest J. Yarusi Jr. and his two sisters Alice Caruso and Elizabeth Alimonti. Ernest was a loving grandfather to his five grandchildren, Ernest J. III, Janel, Christina, John, and Danielle and three great-grandchildren Zach, Anna Sophia, and Ashley Marie.
For over 60 years, Ernest was a skilled and creative homebuilder. He had a passion for carpentry and worked as a general contractor since the age of 15. He enjoyed summers at the Jersey shore, country music, fishing and boating.
Ernest was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to everyone he met and worked with.
A time of gathering will be held on Tuesday, June 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Dooley Colonial Funeral Home, 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield, NJ. The funeral mass will be held at The Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield, NJ on Wednesday, June 5 at 10 AM. Ernest will be laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ. Memorial donations can be made to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway located at 865 Stone Street, Rahway, NJ.
