He grew up in Houston, attended Lamar High School, and graduated from the University of Texas with a BBA. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and the Texas Cowboys. In March of 1968 he married the love of his life, Marilyn Moorman. They had 11 wonderful years in Houston, where their children, Ashley and Hill, were born, and where he worked as a stock broker and in commercial real estate, served in a voluntary role as advance man for President Gerald Ford, and was active in First Presbyterian Church. They moved to Austin in 1979, joined Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, and began a weekly Bible Study with a small group of men that is still going.
Corry was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing in all intramural sports in college and city league sports for years. He loved hunting, and spent many wonderful years hunting and making memories with his dear friends. His family was most important to him, as he coached and followed his kids' sports and more recently his grandchildren's sports and activities. Nothing pleased "Popper" more than spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored and spoke of often.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn, his daughter Ashley Adams Oliver, son Hill Corry Adams II, son-in-law Thomas William Oliver, Jr., and grandchildren Hope Adams Oliver and Thomas William Oliver III, his sister Anne Adams, brother-in-law Robert Arthur Moorman, 1 niece, 3 nephews, & 4 great-nephews.
Corry loved and cared deeply for people, and even in his years with chronic pain, never lost faith or his great love for Jesus Christ. His passion was sharing the Good News with others.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, November 11, at 2 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3003 Northland Drive, Austin, TX 78757. Memorial donations may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church Capital Campaign Fund.
