Prime Minister of Lebanon. He served as prime minister of Lebanon eight times between 1955 and 1987. Prior to becoming prime minister he graduated from Cairo University with a law degree in the 1946. He set up his legal practice in Tripoli and was first elected to the National Assembly in 1951. He held his seat until his death. In 1951 he became minister of justice in the government and in 1953 he was appointed minister of the economy and social affairs. He was the Minister of Finance several times between 1958 and 1976. He also served as Minister of Foreign Affairs several times. He then became prime minister at thirty-four years-old and served under every president . Highlights during his administrations include the The Arab–Israeli conflict and the Civil war between Christian militias and Muslim militias and their Palestinian allies. He is best remembered as a man for all crises because of the habit of Lebanon's presidents to turn to him in times of major national strife or political upheaval. He was assassinated after a bomb was planted in his helicopter en route to Beirut.
