Malaysian Monarch. He was the 10th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia from 1994 to 1999, and the tenth Grand Ruler of Negeri Sembilan from 1967 to 2008. Born in Klang, Selangor, he was one of four children of Tuanku Abdul Rahman, the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong. He attended Seri Menanti Malay School, then continued his studies at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar. In 1940, he went on to attend Raffles College, Singapore, but his studies were distrupted due to the World War ll. In 1946, he started working in the Malay Administrative Service. He then went to study at the University of Nottingham to study law. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1947. In 1967, he ascended to the throne of Negeri Sembilan after the death of his half brother. In 1994, he was elected the 10th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia succeeding Sultan Azlan Shah. During his term in office, he worked on the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), the Petronas Twin Towers, and the organization of the 16th Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998. He died of a stroke in 2008.
