Robert Raymond Kern, 89, of Arnold died March 25, 2021, in Arnold. Mr. Kern was a retired Clayton Police officer and a retired guard for the Texas Department of Corrections. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Born March 22, 1932, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Franklin and Malinda (Sanders) Kern.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley A. (Napier) Kern; a son: Robert R. Kern Jr. of Oklahoma; a daughter: Marilyn S. Shackelford of Arnold; three grandchildren: Zach, Amber and Cody; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in south St. Louis County. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Backstoppers. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home.
