Mr. Leon Paul Uhlmann, 93, of Galesburg, Illinois died Sunday August 7, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Care, Galesburg.
He was born October 5, 1928, in Abingdon, Illinois, the son of John and Ethel (McBride) Uhlmann. He married Alice Haynes on April 6, 1947 in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Alice; and three children, Rebecca Uhlmann of Galesburg, Dennis (and Carol) Uhlmann of Galesburg, and Debra (and David) Thomas of Grantsburg, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Howard Uhlmann, Dale Uhlmann, and Richard Uhlmann, and five sisters, Yvonne Tabb, June Karsmiski, Genevieve Marks, Virginia Stoneberg, and an infant sister, Cleta Uhlmann.
Leon graduated from Galesburg High School in 1946. He farmed for many years then worked for Westbay Equipment in the parts department for several years until his retirement.
He enjoyed gardening, canning, and playing cards, especially Pitch. He also enjoyed dancing with his wife, and they were a member of the Do-Si-Do Club. Leon was a 4-H leader and a member of the Bracken Busy Bees.
Graveside service will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.
