Professional Baseball Player. He gained fame as a Major League baseball player. George Allen "Iron" Davis Jr. was a pitcher for the New York Yankees and the Boston Braves from 1912 to 1915. Davis pitched a no-hitter for the Braves in the final game of the 1914 National League pennant race, and his team went on to win the World Series that year. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998.
