James (Jim) Sharbaugh, 69 years of age, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. He was living in Sun City Center, Florida.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Susan Sharbaugh, née Hartle and his son Joel.
He was born on May 7, 1951 to Alvin C. Sharbaugh and Mary L. Sharbaugh, née McCann.
He attended St. Benedict Catholic School in Carrolltown, PA., Bishop Carroll High School in
Ebensburg, PA., and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (UPJ) and the University of Maryland. His academic career culminated in a masters degree in religious studies granted by Notre Dame Pontifical Catechetical Institute in Arlington, VA.
After many years teaching comparative religions at La Reine High School in Suitland, MD., he founded the Gabriel Project (now called the Gabriel Network), a non-profit, pro-life organization which offers essential support to women in crisis pregnancy by providing food, shelter, and stability; giving an alternative to abortion, and a future to mother and child alike. Many lives are here on earth due to Jim's vision to, "save the babies".
Before retiring to Florida, he was an active member and RCIA coordinator at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Dahlonega, GA.
Jim ("Baby Brother") is also survived by sisters Nancy Larson of Silverton, OR. and Pat Kunka (wife of Stan) of Suches, GA, brother-in-law Ed Hartle (husband of Michelle), sister-in-law Marcia Senapathy (wife of Harish), and nieces and nephews too numerous to list here.
When Jim walked into a room, you knew there would be smiles and laughter. You never met anyone with a bigger warmer heart.
