Paraguayan Politician. He served as the 32nd President of Paraguay from February 17, 1936 to August 13, 1937. After finishing his basic studies, he joined the military, rising to the rank of colonel, and went on to serve during the Chaco War from 1932 to 1935. He was also a founder and historic leader of the Revolutionary Febrerista Party. After the Chaco War, he became critical of President Eusebio Ayala. Ayala sent him to exile in Argentina in early 1936, but in February of that year, his supporters ousted Ayala's government. He returned to Paraguay and became president. He went on to serve until August of 1937, when he was ousted in an army uprising. Ending his political career, he went into exile in Uruguay and lived there for over twenty years before returning to Paraguay in the early 1960s.
