He was born on March 4, 1931, in Manistee, Michigan, the son of the late John and Lorene (Shermer) Kaiser. He attended Trinity Lutheran Schools before proudly serving his country in the United States Army from 1952 until he was honorably discharged in 1954. On June 2, 1956, Virgil married Geneva Hansen at Trinity Lutheran Church and they shared 50 years together before Geneva's passing on November 27, 2006.
Virgil retired from Packaging Corporation of America in 1995 and went on to work at Manistee National on the grounds crew until 2021.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manistee.
Virgil enjoyed spending his time in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also liked watching sports when they were on.
Virgil is survived by his daughters Diana Slaughter and Mikaleen McClure; grandchildren Nathan (Karen) Slaughter, Joel Kaiser, Lindsay (Anthony) Schindlbeck, Kyle McClure, and Sam McClure; great-grandchildren Jeremy, Sean, Shane and Chase Kaiser, Blake and Evan Slaughter, and Hayleigh Slaughter; his significant other Marilyn Hilliard; and many other family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Geneva, Virgil was preceded in death by his siblings Leslie Kaiser, John Kaiser, and Betty Smith.
Funeral Services for Virgil will be held on Saturday October 8, 2022, at 11:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manistee with Reverend Dennis Rahn officiating. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
