Arthur Boultbee was the son of Felix Boultbee and his wife the widowed Mrs. Mary Nesbitt, neé Samuels.

Arthur married Mary Turner, daughter of Robert Turner, Q.C. and his first wife Maria Patrick of Toronto, on October 22, 1963.

Arthur and Mary at least 9 children. (3 daughters and 6 sons).

Arthur's father Felix had been an officer in the East India Company civil service. The family emigrated to Canada about 1833, and Mary died at the quarantine station at Grosse Isle of typhus contacted on the voyage to Canada.

The bereaved family settled in a log house near Ancaster, and Felix's sister Roselind came out from England to care for the children. When Roselind returned to England, she married her cousin, the Rev. Richard Moore Boultbee.

Arthur attended Bishop's College, Lennoxville, in the Province of Quebec, a college operated by the Church of England.

In 1854, at the age of 21, Arthur received an inheritance from the estate of his father, and left home to learn an occupation. He became a surveyor of forest lands in "The Queen's Bush, Luther Township, Ontario Queen's Bush" in Luther Township, 75 miles northwest of Ancaster.

In June of 1869, Arthur began the mission at Harriston, Ontario . The railway ended at Guelph, so he had to travel with his wife and children forty miles by buggy to their destination. He held services in the log school house there. He was 6 foot 4 inches tall, and the ceiling was low, so the day before the service, he had the floor removed behind the teacher's desk and a hole dug deep enough for him to stand in.

In 1870, he became a deacon in the Anglican Church of Canada, and was appointed to Minto Parish, Luther Township. ( The Parish was later known as St. George's Church, Harriston, Ontario. ) Arthur conducted the first service held there on December 25, 1870.

On October 7, 1871, he was priested by the Bishop of Toronto, and was the first resident clergyman in Harriston. He served at two other parishes at the nearby villages of Clifford, Ontario and Cotswald, Ontario.

From 1875 to 1880 incumbent at the Anglican Church in Georgetown. The small stone church there, opened 1878, and it was designed by Arthur's brother
William (1832-1902), who had returned from India, where he had been chief engineer for the Madras railway.

He was rector at the Anglican Church in Cayuga from 1882 to 1889.
and held the charge at Grace Anglican Church, Waterdown from 1885 until his death 1890.
