He was a graduate of Harrison High School. He was a flooring mechanic and a member of the Carpenters Union. Don was also a talented wood worker and craftsman. He enjoyed going to the Hurm family farm. Don loved life and making friends and family laugh. He was a loving uncle and very involved in the lives of his many nieces and nephews.
Don is survived by his wife of 18 years, Elizabeth "Beth" (Hurm) Barfield of Evansville, IN; his siblings, Kim (Barfield) Stewart, Pam Jones (Tim), Tracy Fleenor (Tom), Lisa Deckelman, Bobby Wigger, Mike Wigger (Stephanie); and by his in-laws, Mary Mullen (Rick), Pat Hurm (Vanessa), Mark Hurm (Lorie), Steve Hurm (Melony), Andy Hurm (Donna), Janice Jillson (Rick); and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Barfield and Connie (Barfield) Wigger; and step-father, Robert Wigger, as well as his in-laws; Margaret and Adolph Hurm; and step-sister, Christine Clark.
A celebration of Don's life will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, March 13, 2023 with Clint Stanton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 12, 2023 where there will be a sharing of memories at 6:00 pm.
