Bob was born the 5th of 6 children to George and Margaret Jane (Nimmons) Reid. The linen factory employed most of the citizens of Randalstown. He married at 30 because he wanted to have a furnished home for his bride and was always a very hard worker. Played bagpipes and was in a local band. During WWII he helped build ships in Belfast as the family grew to four children: Oswald (1936) Iris (1941) Gilbert (1943) and Wendal (1946). In 1952, the family immigrated to the San Fernando Valley, first Van Nuys and then Reseda.
Bob worked at Wonder Bread in Beverly Hills and also did gardening. His retirement lasted for more than 25 years.
