Charles Pete Petersen, 89, Tyler, passed away on October 19, 2014 in Tyler. He was born November 17, 1924 in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey to the late Carl Emil Petersen and Ida Dem Bleyker Petersen. He served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1946, and the Navy Reserve from 1946 to 1973. He served in WWII in Europe and the Pacific and went around the world 5 times. He served in the Seabees, on the Destroyers, USS Tarbell and Hayes. Pete was proud that his father, the late Carl Emil Petersen, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor while in the Navy in Peking, China during the Boxer Rebellion. Pete was proud and appreciative of his trip to Washington DC on a recent Brookshires Honor Flight for WWII veterans. Later Pete worked for DuPont in New Jersey and DANA in Indepedence, KS. He was a Southern Baptist and a Mason and loved to read, do woodwork and paint. He was preceded in death by a son, John Michael Pugh and a sister, Evelyn Etter.

Survivors include wife, Rose May Petersen of Tyler children, Charles Therrell of Century, FL, Karen Therrell of Calif., Chuck Pugh and wife, Sara of Olathe, KS and daughterinlaw, Elizabeth Pugh of Ardmore, OK 10 grandchildren 9 greatgrandchildren and nephew, Bob Wilson and wife, Doris of Gentry, AR. Pete had numerous dear friends and will be greatly missed.
