The Zahrbock Funeral Home of Madison, announces the death of 95 year old Edwin Goetsch of rural Nassau, who passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Madison Health Care Center.

Private Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Zahrbock Chapel, Madison, MN. Rev. Noel Herr will officiate at the service.

The concluding service and burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Bellingham, MN.
A public visitation will be on Sunday, January 3, 2021 starting at 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at the Zahrbock Funeral Home Chapel.

Edwin Henry Goetsch was born on December 4, 1925 to parents Herman and Helena (Kunde) Goetsch at home in Walter Township, Bellingham.

He was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church, Walter Township. He attended school for 10 years.

He then started to farm with his father. After his Dad retired, he bought the farm from his dad along with the machinery and cattle.

He was united in marriage to Marilyn Kanstrup on August 29, 1954 at Augusta Lutheran Church, Marietta, Minnesota. To this union 3 sons were born.

He continued to farm until he retired at the age of 62. After his retirement he continued to help his son Leroy farm.

Ed was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Walter Township where he served as chairman, Elder, Treasurer and Sunday School Superintendent.

He was also a Walter Township Supervisor, ADA Board, West Central DHIA.

In life, Ed enjoyed woodwork and enjoyed building clocks for his kids. He enjoyed welding and fixing machinery, driving tractors and doing fieldwork, working with the dairy cattle and pigs. He also enjoyed sports on TV, taking family trips and later trips with Marilyn.

Death came to Edwin on December 23, 2020 at the Madison Healthcare. He had reached the age of 95 years and 9 days.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn of the Madison Healthcare services, sons Leroy and Bonnie Goetsch of Bellingham, MN, Arlyn and Cheryl Goetsch of Mankato, MN, daughter-in-law Terri Vandervorst of Highmore, SD, grandchildren Kimberly (Randy) Oien, Tim (Whitney) Goetsch, Nicole Goetsch, Adam Goetsch. Great-grandchildren Russell and Eliott Goetsch.
Step-grandchildren, Kelly Johnson, Kara Winter, step-great grandchildren Wyatt, Amiaya and Cassiday Johnson. Sister-in-law Norma Hiepler and by many numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Helena, son Russell, sisters Mildred and Donald Roth, Elnora and Vernon Streich, LaVerne and Ed Putzier, brother-in-law, Vernon Beninga, Glenn Hiepler, Kenneth Kanstrup, Roger and Ardyce Harberts, nieces Janice Schake and Sue Trandell.
