Robert (Bob) G. Berry, 93, a resident of the Illinois Veterans Home of La Salle, and formerly of Utica and Granville, passed away peacefully February 18, 2024, at OSF St. Paul Hospital in Mendota. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney. Graveside military rites will be by the Olney V.F.W. The Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley is assisting.


Bob was born June 5, 1930, in Olney to Theodore and Laura (Eyer) Berry. He relocated to Streator and was employed at the Anthony Company and ultimately retired from Libby Owens Ford in Ottawa as a machine maintenance technician. During his time in Streator, he met a five-year-old neighbor girl named Dava, whom he grew to cherish as his daughter for the remainder of his life. He enjoyed music, fishing, reading and especially playing Yahtzee with Dava. "Pa Bob" will be remembered always as a gentle, kind and loving man.


Bob was a Korean War Army Veteran serving in the Head Quarters Company, 101st Infantry Division from 1949 to 1952. He was a former member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and the Moose Lodge.


He is survived by Dava, (her husband Tom) McNally, and their children Amanda and Joshua; niece, Deb Daugherty; nephew, Kenny (DeLinda) McDowell; great nephews, Jermey (Katie) Dallmier and family; Matt (Kelly) Dallmier; great niece, Laura Dallmier.


He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Richard Berry; and sister, Nancy McDowell.
