Jennie H. McWilliams, wife of George W. McWilliams (Medal of Honor Winner, Civil War Veteran), was born Nov. 13, 1849, and passed away at Waterford, Pa., age 77, at the home of her relatives, on May 10, 1927. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery, Ida County, Iowa.

Her daughter passed away about 3 years ago. Her husband, George W. McWilliams was wounded in the Civil War maintaining his station on the boat, USS Pontoosuc, but stayed at his station defending his comrades and his Union and received the Medal of Honor. The Ida County Historical Society has a cup made from a cocoanut and a piece of tin for a handle that he made at the Andersonville Prison. George was born Sept. 16, 1842 and passed away Aug. 11, 1900.

Jennie had married George W. McWilliams, a pioneer surveyor in northwest Iowa and Civil War Veteran, and the family resided in Ida Grove, Iowa, for nearly 50 years.------------------------
