DEATH ENDS SUFFERING
WM GEHRING SR. PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME IN DENISON ON SATURDAY MORNING

Suffered a Paralytic Stroke Some Thirteen Months Ago--Reached Age of 77 Years

At his home on Court Street in this city, occurred the death of Mr. William Gehring Sr. Sunday morning, May 14 at nine o'clock. Mr. Gehring has been bedfast for about thirteen months, having suffered a paralytic stroke in April last year. His wife and children gave him the best of care and his last days were made as pleasant as possible for him. Mr. Gehring for about twenty-five years was one of the highly respected and successful farmers of Hanover township, taking active interest in community affairs and was well known in that part of the country.

Wilhelm Johann Ludwig Gehring was born October 19, 1844, in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany and was there united in marriage to Miss Dorothea Priebs. Three children were born to this union, one of them preceding the father to the great beyond. On June 3rd 1869 the family came to Chicago, where they made their home until 1880. From the big city they came to Crawford County, taking up farming in Hanover township. Being very successful in their agricultural pursuits they were able to retire from the farm in May 1903 and came to Denison, where Mr. Gehring now has passed away. Those left to mourn his departure are his widow, two children: Mrs. Wilhelmine Marquardt and Mrs. Wm. Gehring Jr., both of this city, ten grandchildren, as well as a large circle of friends.

The funeral services were held Tuesday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at the Lutheran church, Rev. Frese officiating, and interment took place in the Morgan township cemetery. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers. The Bulletin joins friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved.

Parents, Wilhelm & Dora (Dinklmann) Gehring, are believed to have passed away in Germany about 1848. Sister, Elizabeth Gehring Mueller (MEMORIAL ID 105399856), resided in Chicago, IL.
